Registration Open for NEWCA’s Construction Leadership Academy
Registration is being accepted for the new Construction Leadership Academy, a management training opportunity for new and emerging leaders within the construction trades. The skills-development curriculum is provided by the NEW Construction Alliance (NEWCA) in partnership with the business & industry services department of Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC).
The 18-hour program offers an in-depth learning experience for emerging supervisors within the construction trades who seek to build or enhance the knowledge and skills needed to be effective leaders. The integrated curriculum, which is delivered in-person in three-hour segments, is organized around themes of managing self, a team, the work and its processes/systems.
“This type of training was requested by our NEW Construction Alliance members,” said Jason Mathwig, industry alliance director for New North Inc. “They often have talented people in their organizations who are deserving of a promotion to a supervisory position, but the company lacks a ready-made leadership training program to prepare these individuals for their new roles. We believe the Construction Leadership Academy will provide the desired learning opportunity, along with the ability to engage with professionals in the nuanced construction industry.”
Two virtual sessions are available to learn more about the program and to have questions answered. They are on March 4th, from 3pm to 3:30pm, and on March 8th, from 8:30am to 9am. Registration for both sessions is available HERE.
The cost to participate in the Construction Leadership Academy is $750 per participant for current NEWCA investors and $1,500 per participant for non-members. The investment includes all assessments, materials, catering, learning-management system access and the time of the facilitator.
Participants who complete the curriculum will receive one associate degree credit and have the potential to earn advanced standing in the three-credit Supervision course.
A detailed, session-by-session listing of the curriculum is available on the registration page, HERE.
