Nick Reckinger Receives UW-Green Bay’s Community Service Award

During the UW-Green Bay fall Council of Trustees reception and dinner, Nick Reckinger, co-head coach of Bay Nordic, was presented with the Community Service Award in recognition of his substantial contributions to communities in Northeast Wisconsin.

The Community Service Award is given to recognize community members who have made significant contributions and have done exceptional community work. The award honors those who have demonstrated outstanding service that has positively impacted our region.

Reckinger’s journey in cross-country skiing began in high school, and his passion for the sport grew stronger. After college, he volunteered as an assistant coach for a local junior cross-country ski team, further fueling his dedication. As the co-head coach of the High School and Middle School program, Reckinger’s exceptional leadership has been instrumental in Bay Nordic’s success. His excellent skills and strong leadership have elevated the team to become one of the premier programs in the state. The team has won multiple state championships, fostered numerous individual medalists, and sent skiers to national competitions. His unwavering commitment to motivating young skiers to hone their abilities, embody sportsmanship, and enjoy the sport has been pivotal in establishing a flourishing competitive program.
