McCormick Assisted Living & Greater Green Bay YMCA Join in “Blanketing Brown County”
In an effort to keep low-income men, women and children warm this winter, Brown County United Way and the Greater Green Bay Labor Council Community Services Committee are hosting the 8th Annual Blanketing Brown County drive to collect new and gently used blankets and other bedding items such as comforters, quilts, and sleeping bags for distribution to area shelters and agencies. Blanketing Brown County begins on Wednesday, January 8th and continues through Friday, January 31st.
McCormick Assisted Living, 212 Iroquois Avenue in Allouez, and the Greater Green Bay YMCA, 235 North Jefferson Street in Green Bay, are two of the area locations at which blankets and other items may be deposited.
Other area locations include Green Bay area Fleet Farm stores, Pomp’s Tires locations, Brown County Library branches, Green Bay Metro fire stations, and the United Way Office.
A list of additional locations is available here.
The Blanketing Brown County Drive sponsored by the Brown County United Way and Greater Green Bay Labor Council Community Services Committee collected more than 2400 blankets for distribution to more than 40 Brown County programs serving homeless and low-income men, women and children in 2018. This is the sixth straight year the drive has exceeded 2000 blankets.
