Green Bay Police Now Accepting Applications for Community Academy
The Green Bay Police Department (GBPD) is accepting applications for its Community Academy. This eight-week course is an interactive opportunity for our community to better understand GBPD divisions, functions, and objectives.
Participants will learn about specialty units, such as the Marine Unit, Dive Team, K9, and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT). They will also hear from police officers, investigations, recruiting staff, meet the forensics team, test their skills at techniques such as lifting fingerprints, and other hands-on demonstrations, including simulation training used by officers.
The program is scheduled for September 11th, 2024, through October 30th, 2024. It will be held on Wednesdays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The first session will be at Metro Boat Launch, 102 Bay Beach Road. Then for the remainder of the course, attendees will report to the Green Bay Police Department, 307 South Adams Street.
Community Academy is open to Brown County residents and those from surrounding areas; however, priority registration will be given to City of Green Bay residents and first-time attendees. The class size will be limited to 30 students; therefore, we ask that registrants commit to attending each week.
Due to the structure of the academy, an application is required, and a criminal background check will be run on each applicant. Anyone with a felony conviction record will not be eligible to attend. Anyone under the age of 18 will need the signature of a parent or guardian to participate.
The deadline to turn in required forms is Friday, August 30th, 2024. There is no cost to attend.
