Green Bay News Network Salutes Law Enforcement Officers During National Police Week
Our Greater Green Bay Area has more than it’s fair share of Hometown Heroes, and ranking highly among them are our dedicated and selfless Law Enforcement Officers.
The recent outpouring of support in the case of K-9 Pyro is just one example of the manner in which our community regards our local police.
Day after day, shift after shift, the men and women of our local Police Departments leave home – not knowing whether or not they will return – to defend our citizens and communities.
We, at the Green Bay News Network, salute these brave men and women – and thank them for their dedication and service.
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th – as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
As we conclude this year’s National Police Week, we encourage all of our Members and Readers to take the time — the very next time you see a Police Officer — to thank them, and let them know you support them – and pray for them and their families.
