Disc Golf Course on UW-Green Bay Campus Opens This Saturday

UW-Green Bay’s 700 acres overlooking the bay now includes a premier disc golf course. Pro disc golfer and nationally known course designer Cale Leiviska will welcome guests and officially open the Shorewood Disc Golf Course on Saturday, August 17th, with festivities beginning at 1:00pm.

“This course is amazing, offering holes that will challenge the seasoned disc golfer, and allow beginners to experience the fun of disc golf,” said Jeff Krueger, director of University Recreation (URec) and Kress Events Center Operations. “It’s an incredible opportunity for both UW-Green Bay students and the community to explore the outdoors, enjoy time together, and create a community around this beautiful, natural space. Additionally, the ongoing development of the Shorewood property supports our students’ recreation desires while also attracting new community user groups to explore. We are excited with the opening of the disc golf course and eager about the potential to further develop and showcase this beautiful area on campus.”  

The course was designed by nationally known disc golf designer and pro Cale Leiviska. With a degree in Conservation Biology and background in Forest Management, Leiviska brings his love for the sport and expertise in preserving a course’s surrounding natural beauty to the new Shorewood Disc Golf Course, with a goal to make it one of the premier courses in the state.
