Our Mission: To preserve, present, and share the heritage of Brown County history through preservation activities, exhibitions, educational programs, and events.
The Brown County Historical Society was officially founded as the Green Bay Historical Society on October 21, 1899 by a dedicated group of local historians. Throughout its long history, BCHS members have been active in preserving historic buildings, conducting research, providing information to the public, and stimulating interest in the complex multi-cultural heritage of the area.
Today the Society is as vital as ever. Its projects include advocacy for historical preservation, educational outreach, publications, operation of a historic house museum, and as a historical resource to the community.
The Brown County Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization funded primarily through membership dues and donations from individuals, businesses and foundations. We receive no governmental support.
Gifts to the Brown County Historical Society are tax-deductible as allowed by law. New members are always welcome. Monetary and in-kind donations are appreciated.
