Mayor, Supreme Court Justice, School Board, & Referenda on Ballot in Green Bay April 4th
Last Day for Early In-Person Voting is Saturday, April 1st
Tuesday, April 4th is Election Day in Wisconsin, and there are candidates and referenda of both statewide and local interest.
Voters throughout Wisconsin will be electing a new justice for the Wisconsin State Supreme Court, choosing either former State Supreme Court Justice Daniel Kelly, or Milwaukee Family Court Judge Janet Protasiewicz.
Wisconsin voters will also be deciding on 3 referenda; 2 dealing with Section 8 (2) of Article 1 of the State Constitution, and another dealing with a work requirement for recipients of welfare benefits.
Voters in Brown County will see that the current County Executive, Troy Streckenbach, is running unopposed in his bid for re-election.
In addition to the state and county races, voters in local municipalities will be electing various officials including city council members, school board members, and other local office holders.
In Green Bay, a tight race has developed between the incumbent mayor, Eric Genrich, and challenger, Brown County Director of Administration, Chad Weininger – a former state assemblyman, city clerk, and mayoral chief of staff.
In the mayoral primary election in February, Weininger topped Genrich by only 87 votes, meaning this will be a closely watched election on Tuesday.
Finally, voters in Green Bay will be electing a member to the Green Bay Area Public School District School Board. Voters are able to vote for no more than two of the following: Noah Becker, Paul D. Boucher, Laura McCoy, and Lynn Gerlach.
While the others have all sought or been elected to public office previously, this is Becker’s first time as a candidate.
