Volunteer Center of Brown County Planting “Seeds of Hope”

As Lady Bird Johnson once said, “Where flowers bloom, so does hope.”

The Volunteer Center of Brown County is pleased to announce the launch of the Seeds of Hope Awards.

Seeds of Hope was created to celebrate the good happening in the greater Green Bay area and surrounding communities during the public health emergency. They are asking community members in Brown, Shawano, and Oconto Counties to submit their stories of how they or someone they know are rising to the challenge by volunteering or planting ‘seeds of hope’ during these challenging times.

Whether it is helping a neighbor in need, delivering groceries to a homeless shelter, sewing masks for front-line workers and community members, or volunteering on the front lines – the very act of giving is planting seeds of hope and helping to build a stronger community through volunteerism, even during a public health emergency.

“The Seeds of Hope Awards offers our community an opportunity to highlight individuals and groups who are rising to the challenge by volunteering or planting seeds of hope during these times,” said Melissa Jagodinsky, Community Engagement Coordinator for the Volunteer Center of Brown County. “Nominating an individual volunteer or group of volunteers for the Seeds of Hope Awards does not have to take a lot of time but can make a lasting impact on the nominee and their cause.”

Now, through Thursday, July 2nd, you can go to https://volunteergb.org/ and share your ‘Seeds of Hope’ story, which must have taken place from March 1, 2020 onward.

The deadline to submit stories will be Thursday, July 2nd. The Volunteer Center of Brown County will choose five recipients, who will each receive a $200 donation to a local cause of their choosing. Recipients will be notified by the Volunteer Center of Brown County by late July.
