Green Bay Yard & Garden Waste Collection Begins October 14th

Posted on 10-10-2024

Green Bay Department of Public Works will begin curbside yard and garden waste collection on Monday, October 14th, 2024. Residents are reminded that yard waste must be placed on the terrace and not in the street. This rule is related to required compliance with Green Bay’s storm sewer permit issued by Wisconsin DNR. Non-compliance with permit rules results in penalties imposed on the City, including regulatory fines.

Over the past three (3) years, the Department of Public Works (DPW) mailed educational notices to property owners who placed yard waste in the street. Beginning this fall without prior notice or warning, DPW will take another step by invoicing residents for yard waste collection IF placed in the street. If yard waste is placed on the terrace, there will be no invoice for collection.

DPW requests that residents refrain from piling yard waste in the street. It is understood this may not be a popular option. DPW prefers to not invoice for yard waste collection; however, invoices will be sent for noted violations to the rule.
