Wisconsin DNR: Corrected Fall 2024 Hunting & Trapping Forecasts
NOTE: The map on page 5 of the 2024 Deer Season Forecast contained two errors. The first incorrectly indicated the northern unit in Oconto County as having a holiday hunt and extended archery season, whereas it will be having neither in the 2024-2025 deer hunting season. The second indicated Iowa County as having a Holiday Hunt but no extended archery season. Iowa County will have an extended archery season in 2024-2025.
MADISON, Wis. – This past Friday (Aug 9th) the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) released the 2024 fall forecast series, detailing the hunting outlook for a variety of popular game species.
These forecasts outline what hunters and trappers across the state can expect while pursuing their favorite game species. In addition to information about specific game species, they also include helpful reminders about public land access opportunities, game registration requirements and season dates.
“The species forecasts are the result of a thorough analysis of federal and local species surveys, the findings of DNR research projects, weather patterns and the on-the-ground information we receive from our advisory committees and staff,” said Shawn Rossler, DNR furbearer specialist. “They are based on both science and the observations of DNR professionals and experienced outdoorspeople from across our state.”
