Green Bay Police Announce New Commanders for Investigative & Professional Standards Divisions
The Green Bay Police Department (GBPD) will be welcoming Inspector Shannon Seymer-Tabaska of the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) as Commander and promoting Lieutenant Rick Belanger of the GBPD to the rank as well. This announcement follows the approval of the Police and Fire Commission (PFC), which met on Tuesday, March 19th.
Seymer-Tabaska will serve as Commander of the Investigative Division and Belanger will become Commander of the Professional Standards Division.
Seymer-Tabaska brings with her 33 years of law enforcement experience to GBPD. Along with Inspector, she has been a MPD Captain, Lieutenant, Sergeant, Officer, and Police Telecommunicator. Shannon has also held the position of Victim-Witness Specialist with the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
She holds a Master of Science in addition to a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is also a 268th session graduate of the FBI-National Academy (FBINA) in Quantico, Virginia, and a recipient of the FBI-LEEDA – Trilogy Award.
“Commander Seymer-Tabaska brings a wealth of experience and a demonstrated track record of strong leadership to her new role with the Green Bay Police Department. Throughout the selection process, I was struck by her commitment to community policing and the well-being of the officers and professional staff she serves with. We are excited to have her on the team,” said Chief Chris Davis of the Green Bay Police Department.
Belanger has 25 years of law enforcement experience. He has been serving as an acting Commander of the Professional Services Division since November of 2023. Other ranks with GBPD include Lieutenant, Officer, and Dispatcher. Rick has also held a first responder role as a firefighter with Ashwaubenon Public Safety.
He holds an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice from Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC). He has certifications that include Leadership in Police Organizations (LPO), a sponsored program by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).
“Commander Belanger will be responsible for leading our Professional Standards Division, which is a critical function in the department. He has proven himself to be a highly ethical, experienced police leader in multiple divisions of our department. He possesses a great deal of experience and is well-respected both inside and outside the department,” said Davis.
There will be a ceremony to swear in Commander Seymer-Tabaska and promote Commander Belanger next month.
